Is a Starlink “RC-” code a promo code?
You found a code that starts with “RC-”, maybe labeled as a coupon. Here is what it really is, why there’s nowhere to type it, and what it can and can’t do for a US order.

Short answer
Not a promo code
No. As of our Nov 3, 2026 check, an RC- code (“RC-” followed by numbers) is one Starlink customer’s personal referral code, not a promo code. It works only inside that customer’s referral link, there’s nowhere at Starlink to type it, and it takes nothing off checkout. If you’re new and qualify, Starlink adds a $100 reward later.
Checked against starlink.com’s US order pages, help center and terms. Our method
What is a Starlink RC code, if not a promo code?
A name tag, not a coupon. Starlink gives each customer a personal referral link to share, and the RC- code is the last part of it: it tells Starlink which customer sent you. Our own check showed the shape: a working Starlink referral link is starlink.com with a “referral” parameter carrying an RC code; it brings up a green banner, and the order page then confirms “Referral Code Applied” (our Oct 30, 2026 check).
If you qualify, you and the customer who referred you are both rewarded, and you get the same amount the customer who shared the link receives. The referral terms tie the reward to the link: the order has to go through the existing customer’s own referral link; Starlink’s terms rule out every other route.
Why can’t you type an RC- code anywhere?
Because Starlink built no place for it. On Nov 3, 2026 we read the US order screens and the text starlink.com loads for them: starlink.com’s US order, checkout, cart and payment screens have no field labeled for a promo, coupon or referral code. Nor could we find any spot to slip a referral code in after the fact. The link does the work, so no box is needed.
In practice: if someone gives you just the code, ask for their link. Open it once you’ve decided to buy and complete the order in that tab, checking for “Referral Code Applied” by the Checkout button first. See each step.
Why do strangers’ RC- codes end up on coupon sites?
Search for a Starlink promo code and you’ll find RC- codes relabeled as “promo codes”, “coupons” or even military discounts. They aren’t Starlink codes for the public. They’re ordinary customers’ referral codes, collected and reposted. This is what we logged:
RC- codes on coupon sites · what each one said
Listed 11 “active” Starlink codes; its top pick, for a first order, was a Starlink customer’s RC- referral code, and its newest claimed “up to 15% off”
Referral, relabeled
Listed a Starlink customer’s referral code, written without its dashes, as a “new coupon” (a UK site, dated Sep 23, 2026)
Referral, relabeled
Headlined “50% Off” and said military members could get 25% off with an RC-DF code, which is a Starlink referral code, not a military program; its own student page says Starlink has no student discount
No such discount
Had 17 user-reported Starlink codes on file and said none was verified
Unverified
How do they get the codes? Coupon sites collect referral codes through bots, browser extensions and scraping, which is how strangers’ referral codes end up listed as promo codes. We don’t print any of them, and we don’t list codes of our own.
Starlink’s own RC-style code, and why the newest link wins
Not every referral-format code belongs to a customer. What the US Mini page’s code did when we read it on Oct 21, 2026: starlink.com’s US Mini page sets a Starlink-owned referral-format code when no referral is already in the link or tab; a later click on a customer’s referral link replaces it. We don’t know what Starlink uses that code for.
The second half of that matches the order pages’ code as we found it on Oct 29, 2026: one referral per tab, with each new referral link pushing out the last (our finding, not a written Starlink policy). One catch: a handful of help-center pages embed starlink.com links carrying some other customer’s RC- code, and following one inside your order tab trades your referral for theirs (our finding from the site’s page code). So open the link you mean to use last, and order in that tab without clicking other referral links in it.
Who can an RC- code work for?
A referral link pays only if the new customer meets Starlink’s terms. In the US, that means all of these:
- New to Starlink: you don’t have Starlink now and never have, because people who have Starlink now, or had it before, don’t qualify.
- Ordered on starlink.com: the kit and the plan both have to be bought on starlink.com itself; store purchases, unauthorized resellers and second-hand transfers are out.
- Same country: you and the person who referred you need service addresses in the same country, here the US.
- Plan: one of Residential (100 Mbps, 200 Mbps, Max, plus the legacy Residential and Lite plans) and the three Roam plans (100GB, 300GB, Unlimited).
- Two months subscribed: you keep the service active and paid up, without a break, for two complete monthly billing cycles.
- Not a business account: Business, Enterprise and Priority accounts are left out of referral rewards.
When does the reward from an RC- code land?
Not at checkout. Starlink gives two answers, both read on Nov 3, 2026: under the referral terms the reward is credited on your second monthly service bill, while the help center has it issued from roughly day 60 after activation, if your account setup and ID verification clear it. Both point to roughly the two-month mark, but neither is a date to count on, so plan on it after two months of service.
The kit and the first month are paid in full and the dish is activated as usual; the referral takes nothing off at checkout. Then:
Order day
Kit, shipping, tax
Paid in full at checkout; the referral leaves the total alone.
Month 1
First month’s service
Billed when you activate, or 7 days after delivery if that’s sooner.
Month 2
Second month’s service
Two full months of high-speed service in a row; Standby time doesn’t count.
Second invoice
$100 reward
The terms tie it to invoice number two. Help pages say it can come from about day 60 after activation.
It’s paid as service credit unless you change it, which Starlink takes off your next bill. The other option is cash paid into your bank, where your account allows it, picked under Referrals in your Starlink account.
The referral link won’t help you if…
You’re a Starlink customer now, or were one
Starlink rewards first-time customers only, so the link can’t do anything for your account. What you can use instead
Your order is already placed
Neither you nor Starlink support can attach a referral to an order once it’s in.
You’re picking up a kit at a retailer
A kit from any store or marketplace earns no reward, with or without the link.
Starlink sent you an offer of its own
Use that first. Nobody has confirmed that it stacks with a referral. How to check it’s real
You want Starlink for a short trip
The reward needs two full billing cycles, and Starlink built the program for people who keep their service.
Other questions we checked
What does RC stand for in a Starlink code?
Starlink doesn’t say. In practice the RC- prefix marks a customer’s referral code: it’s the end of the referral link Starlink gives each customer to share, and it identifies who sent you.
Where do I type a Starlink RC code?
Nowhere. Starlink’s US checkout has no box for it. Open the referral link the code belongs to and order in that same browser tab; once it’s attached, the order page says “Referral Code Applied”. The order flow, step by step.
Is it safe to use an RC- code from a coupon site?
A real one, used inside its own link, works like any US referral: if you qualify you get the same reward, and a stranger gets the referrer’s reward. But coupon sites also list codes Starlink doesn’t publish, and none of them can be typed in. What each coupon site claimed.
Can I use two Starlink referral codes?
No. In starlink.com’s page code, which we went through on Oct 29, 2026, a tab carries one referral at a time and a newer link knocks out the older one, so whichever link you open last before ordering wins. That’s our code finding; Starlink hasn’t written it down.
Can I add an RC code to my Starlink order after I paid?
No. Per Starlink’s help center, if the link wasn’t used for the order, the referral never shows up, and it can’t be attached afterwards.
Do existing Starlink customers get anything from an RC- code?
Not as the person ordering: the new-customer reward excludes anyone who has Starlink now or had it before. What current customers can use instead.
