Is "50% off Starlink" a US offer? Where the half-price deal runs (checked Nov 4, 2026)

Where the 50% banner runs, why a foreign offer can't price a US address, and what a US order on starlink.com costs instead, with the date of every figure.

Key takeaways

  • On Nov 4, 2026, Starlink's half-price holiday offer was live only in Japan and South Korea, with Nov 28, 2026 as the end date.
  • Starlink's US order list showed no promotion end date on any plan that day.
  • Starlink prices an order by its service address, so a foreign offer can't be applied to a home in the US, with or without a VPN.
  • Korea's list showed cuts of about 45%, not exactly half, on the figures Starlink loads.
  • The US has had a half-price offer before (the Standard kit in Aug and Sep 2025); a new one would show on starlink.com's US order page, not as a code.

On Nov 4, 2026, Starlink’s half-price holiday offer was live only in Japan and South Korea, until Nov 28. Starlink’s US price list showed no promotion at all that day, so a US address still pays the US price.

The offer is real. It just isn’t for the US, and the reasons it can’t be stretched to a US order are worth knowing before the next “50% off” headline or AI answer lands in your search results.

Where the half-price offer runs right now

Starlink’s public order lists, the price data its order pages load, were read for Japan, South Korea and the US on Nov 4, 2026. Japan and Korea carried a promotion end date of Nov 28, 2026. The US list carried none.

Country What the list showed (Nov 4, 2026) Ends Works for a US address?
Japan Residential plan ¥7,100 a month, adjusted to ¥3,550 Nov 28, 2026 No
South Korea Residential 84,545 to 46,500 won a month; Mini plan 61,818 to 34,000 won; Gen3 kit 500,000 to 275,000 won; Mini kit 290,909 to 160,000 won Nov 28, 2026 No
United States The same three Residential levels as on Nov 3; no promotion end date on any plan None This is the US list

Two details don’t match the banner exactly. Korea’s figures work out to about 45% off, not 50%, and they look like prices before tax, so what a Korean buyer sees on screen may differ. Japan’s list on Nov 4 showed the Residential plan cut but only a rental Mini kit, so whether Japanese hardware is also half price wasn’t clear from the list. Neither detail changes the answer for a US reader.

Why the banner’s English text is on starlink.com but doesn’t show in the US

The banner reads: “50% off Starlink hardware and service plans for home and travel. Offer ends November 28.” That sentence sits in the English text files starlink.com loads for its visitors, which is why it turns up in screenshots, code searches and the occasional headline. The page code that decides who sees it shows it only to visitors in the Japan and South Korea regions, and only before Nov 29, 2026, Japan time.

US visitors didn’t see it. starlink.com’s US home, Residential, Roam and Referrals pages showed no holiday promotion when they were rendered on Nov 2 and Nov 3, 2026. A sentence sitting in a site’s text files is a staged string, not an offer.

Why a foreign offer can’t be used for a US service address

Starlink prices an order by where the service will be used. Its home page prompts visitors to “Enter your address to see plans and pricing”, and its help center adds that Residential plans, pricing and promotions “may vary by location and account type”. Each Starlink account is registered to a single country, and a service address can only move within the country used at sign-up.

So the Japanese or Korean price isn’t something a US buyer can reach by switching the site’s language, opening a foreign page or using a VPN. A VPN changes where your browser appears to be. It doesn’t change the service address on the order, and the address is what sets the price. An order for a US address gets the US price list.

The referral program follows the same border: under its terms, a referral counts only when the newcomer’s service address sits in the referrer’s own country.

Other foreign offers US readers keep seeing

Starlink runs offers country by country, and English-language coverage of them reaches US search results. These came up in 2026:

Country Offer Ends Source and date Works for a US address?
Japan, South Korea Half price on plans (and kits in Korea) Nov 28, 2026 Starlink order lists, Nov 4, 2026 No
Canada Monthly price cut to $39 (Canadian), “not for long” Not given in the headline iPhoneinCanada, May 6, 2026 No
Canada $55 a month for select Canadians Not recorded here iPhoneinCanada, Mar 7, 2026 No
United Kingdom £36 a month, discussed by customers Not recorded here r/Starlink, Oct 31, 2026 No
France A local offer discussed by customers Not recorded here r/Starlink, Jun 20, 2026 No
Australia A local offer discussed by customers Not recorded here r/Starlink, Jun 22, 2026 No

The pattern repeats: a real offer, priced in another currency, for addresses in another country. Check the currency and the country before the number. An r/Starlink thread titled “Starlink 50% discount” drew 21 comments in November 2025 from readers trying to work out who a half-price offer was for, so the confusion isn’t new.

What a real US half-price offer has looked like

The US has had one. In August and September 2025, Starlink sold its Standard kit at half price nationwide, for $175, as SatelliteInternet reported. It showed up on starlink.com for US addresses, in dollars, as a price on the order page.

That’s the shape to look for: a US price on Starlink’s own order page, with an end date, not a percentage in a headline that never names the country.

What a US order costs today, dated

Without a promotion, Starlink’s US national lists (no address entered) looked like this on Nov 3, 2026, and the Residential levels were the same on Nov 4:

Item Starlink US list, Nov 3, 2026
Residential 100 Mbps (select areas) $49.50 a month
Residential 200 Mbps (select areas) $76.50 a month
Residential Max $143 a month
Roam 100GB / 300GB / Unlimited $55 / $80 / $175 a month
Starlink Mini kit $149
Standard kit, to buy $349
Rented kit activation, where offered $0, $99 or $199, one-time

Your address sets the Residential price, and starlink.com shows it only after you enter one. On the same day, one public test address in Broken Bow, Nebraska was quoted $55, $85 and $130 for the three Residential plans, so the list levels are a reference, not your bill. Roam plans here are for travel within the US. Current US offers keeps the full dated list, including area offers at some addresses.

How you’d know if a US holiday offer starts

If Starlink runs a US offer this season, it will appear in Starlink’s own places first:

  • starlink.com’s US pages and the order page for your address, in dollars.
  • Starlink’s US order list, as a promotion end date on a plan or kit.
  • An email from an @starlink.com address, possibly with a special starlink.com link tied to the address that received it. How real Starlink promotions reach you explains those links.

It won’t arrive as a typed code, because the US checkout has no field for one. A headline that says “50% off” without naming the country, the currency and an end date is the one to check before you plan around it. If what you found looks like a code, paste it into the checker to see what it is.

The referral link won’t help you if…

Questions about this

Can I use a VPN to get the Japan or Korea price?

No. Starlink prices an order by its service address, and each account is registered to one country, so a VPN or a foreign page doesn't change what a US address pays.

When does the half-price offer end?

Starlink's lists for Japan and Korea give Nov 28, 2026 as the end date, and the banner says the offer ends November 28.
